Shelli Robiner-Ardizzone

I am ONE FORTUNATE ARTIST, living the life I have dreamed and created.

Over most of my adult life I have been learning, teaching, creating and organizing some sort of art related visual project.

As a child I was a small, introverted, shy under-achiever, wearing glasses, However, I excelled in creating art as long as I can remember.  Being a creative person became the tool to define myself. I have grown to adulthood finding my way by creating art, in and as, my life.  My mother saw to it that my brother and I were exposed to the world of museums, dance and lessons in tap, ballet, and adagio. She and I traveled by public transportation to after school classes for gifted art students.

The magic of "Paint by Numbers" oil paintings was gifted to me at an early age.  What joy!  ART continues to be the  theme in my life.

Teaching art in the schools of Detroit, Michigan (class sizes pushing 40 students, eight 40 minute periods a day) I learned to plan and organize effectively. All of which has served me well, as I have been an artist entrepreneur for 40 years

Fast forward to 1971, I relocate to NYC.
I have worked as a textile designer and colorist, textile salesperson, Art Instructor on a NYFA grant, and for non-profits in NY and NJ, decorative painting instructor, Fashion manufacturer and importer, ArtZone decorative painting, and contracting for 25 yrs.  Saturdays and summer vacations I maintained a lifeline to art classes at the Art Students League of NY as well as special Art Workshops.  I am a Life Member of the ASL.  I am married to fellow painter Joe Ardizzone.

Now retired from my 25 year Painting business I have devoted my full energies to teaching and my professional practice. Having exhibited in local and national venues for 40 years my work is in collections from California to India.  I am a Pastel Society of America member.  As an Artrapeneur, I have organized and taught Art Workshops in San Miguel d’Allende, Mexico, Taos,NM, and Acadia National Park in Maine. I have presented popular”Flower Power” Workshops for 11 years attracting painters in all mediums, and levels.   This workshop honors my ASL instructor and mentor, Lisa Specht.

Artists have special passions, mine has been to continue to develop as a painter and pastelist, to share my joy with students, to teach and travel, to participate in the Arts Community.

All of which, enriches and defines my life.
